Learn To Play, Bryan Adams

November 30, 2009 - 9:11 pm No Comments

Learn To Play, Bryan Adams Rented this after watching the DVD of Dire Straits by the same man, Jamie Humphries. Again, very impressed by the attention to detail and authenticity of the final sound.

Jamie not only shows you a step-by-step how to play songs from Bryan, but also explains what you are actually playing. Jamie also offers good advice, straight forward through all his films I’ve found very useful.

I would recommend at least a basic knowledge of how to play guitar before watching this DVD as otherwise it will be difficult to follow in places. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.

Creedence Clearwater Revival - Inside Creedence Clearwater Revival

I love the music of CCR. In this DVD, I would have liked to see more current music of the band, just a bunch of guys who’ve never heard of sitting around saying what they think of the music. I’m smart enough to make my own mind instead of having to rely on some radio programmers to incorporate Canadian rock tell me what I want.

Having got that Creedence Clearwater Revival - Inside Creedence Clearwater Revival out of my system, there are some tantalizing clips I’d like to see in its entirety. Stu Cook offers insight into the band, but maintains itself back from the real Goss what happened.

I wish I had learned more about the dynamics of the band and the stories behind Tom Fogarty and divide evntual break. So in a rather nice to spend my time, but left me wanting more.

Fritz The Cat

November 30, 2009 - 4:06 pm No Comments

Fritz The Cat Based on a series of comics by underground cartoonist Robert Crumb, this X-rated animated film brings a cynical eye to the idealism of the 1960s. It is a world where black people are crows, cops are pigs, rabbis are lions and cats - as a student at New York University, Fritz (voiced by Skip Hinnant) - are replaced by feelings of guilt that white guys want to be poets but mainly smoke pot and engage in group sex.

After a drug bust a couple of pigs makes him an awkward outlaw, Fritz sets fire to his NYU dorm and hits the road in search of self discovery. The crazy cat steals a car, you start a race riot in Harlem, and ends up stuck outside San Francisco with a group of sadistic revolutionaries led by a junkie biker rabbit. Through it all Fritz’s pot-addled self-righteousness gradually gives way to a deeper understanding of life, but perhaps too late to avoid a terrorist plot.FRITZ The cat was the first feature film director Ralph Bakshi, and leading many of his future subjects - ultrableak urban landscapes, cynically guarded idealism, grotesque sexuality, and loud over-the-top moments of violence.

This international success is definitely a strange trip for those looking to make one.

Wim Wenders Collection

During the first 40 minutes there is no argument at all, just the angels in the heart of the movie watching with envy - in black and white - Berlin humans walled humans. Our chief angel spends some time in love with a beautiful circus performer, trapeze, while Peter Falk plays himself, but with a twist: he too was once an angel. Bursts of color film when we see the world especially dirty divided Berlin from the human standpoint - like a better human being angelic. There proposition that is a film within Wim Wenders Collection movie star seems to be a detective Peter Falk in Nazi Berlin - so unlikely and yet also a dream that is both matter. There that is beautiful - poetically captivating - in this film, the screenplay by Peter Handke, the floating, dreamy cinematography, acting and music, but especially poetry almost the same plot, the use of poetry, the ability to “stand and look at” what is human, what is love.

With this masterpiece of Wenders played a similar sense of space and meaning in small things that reached by Tarkovsky.

Cliff Richard - Music In Review

November 30, 2009 - 7:25 am No Comments

I decided to rent this DVD after watching the disc 1, that while there were flaws, was on the whole pleasant, especially in the early black and white images from Cliff and the shadows on stage. Unfortunately, the second album seemed to be poor in many respects, I’ve been a fan of Cliff and the shadows for many years and during that time have accumulated a fair degree of knowledge of both acts. I really do not expect the respondents ‘expert’ puryey information is actually incorrect.

Here are some examples - when it comes to reference the film Summer Holiday ‘was made with the melody Shadows’ Foot Tapper’ and then were treated to a clip from the film, however, despite the title on the screen information that the viewer is watching the number, the Shads were actually playing ‘Round and Round “I believe! An inference was made Cliff and Bruce Welch wrote the song for summer vacation, when it was actually written by Brian Cliff Richard - Music In Review Bennett and Bruce Welch, as mentioned in the credits for the title on screen. In the section on shadow race which stated that “before the Tornados” dated from the shadows, I feel this is true, no doubt the success Tornadoes first was in 1962, some time after the shadows are well established at the scene.

Before this becomes a rant I’ll move to aspects of DVD production, reviewers often repeated the same information for the viewer so the same detail that is repeated several times. A technique of dividing the screen into two windows are often used, a window that shows the reviewer and the other showing archive images.

Personally, I would have preferred more of the artists and less of the respondents! In short a very disappointing DVD, the old stuff, but very poor quality, is a great reminder of the cliffs performances in recent years, but we must weigh this against some misinformed comments from experts and the general values poor production.

It is not. It is an excellent example of a film about nothing that people rave about because they realize Napoleon Dynamite they are the joke. It’s a bit like those people who are in front of a spot of paint on a piece of paper and read all kinds of things that ultimately declaring that the best piece of work I’ve ever seen.

It made me smile in places, but not as great.

Amazing Grace

I have to say without having prior knowledge about this movie, I enjoyed it. I first noticed that in film when he appeared briefly in the context of the presentations Movie Trailer. I admit that my premis to order this film was solely due to my love of the song “Amazing Grace”, but this movie offers more.

It is a strong historical piece about William Wilberforce, a British statesman who Amazing Grace devoted his political career trying to abolish slavery. While the movie is a bit slow in the narrative, the overall story is uplifting, with many of the themes of resonance in today’s political climate. There is much talk about the plight of America to end slavery, we often forget about Britain’s involvement as well.

This movie is a great testimate to those who sacrifice to make a positive impact in the world.

Captivity Overall I would say I was very disappointed by this film. He spends his time, but is disappointed by the weak script and mediocre quality. In particular, I found the sex scene in the film very unconvincing given the vulnerable situation that she is on - I know this is a movie where anything can happen, but come on!

Moreover, the film was predicate its turn is very evident. Despite this, I must say that is well filmed and that more effort has been made with dialogue and spend more time developing the story, this might have made an uninteresting film.

Ocean’s Thirteen

What a total load of pap! I couldnt have been more taste in the mouth with this film.

Spectacularily The first was written and beautifully acted, the pure genius of a film. The second was not the norm, but there was still a plausible plot and it was fine to see. Oceans 13 was no reason Racey had a history as thin as Jodie Kidd and just made no sense.

A number of bags that did not fit the characters or the plot, and what I think too many were supposed to be related order silences that seemed really should have been included in the blupers because the actors had forgotten their lines and laughing could erupt at any time. It is a shame so many big names that have appeared in this well all of a movie.

Do not waste your time. Look again in the first place
