A clever film, but as with the actor John Malkovitch and not so self-conscious. Location photos are beautiful, but the camera - or the director? - Love lasts too long and the main player in the face.
It is true that it is a very handsome face, but that over-indulgence is rather slow in action. Is in any case a very slow movie, not helped by the difficulty in understanding the accents of Latin America. F’rinstance: Did he say “I have not seen that man in ten years …
or “I have not seen that man in Tangier.” If you get my drift. Like some other critics, I would have preferred the whole thing with subtitles.
But then, who am I to criticize anything related to the inimitable JM
