Creep

I know that London Underground staff are not the best in customer relations, but this is ridiculous … I fear that this “horror” does not suspend their disbelief. Disbelief is suspended is not primarily the script was deemed worthy of public spending.

Actually, I can not believe it. When I see the Film Council logo UK at the beginning of a movie, I know it will be bad. They must act together and start spending our money to make decent scripts.

As Eric Morcambe once said, after he was accused AndrĂ© Previn playing the wrong notes, “I’m playing the right notes … not necessarily in the correct order.” That’s more or less how this script - all the cliches of terror are there, I just do not seem to be in the correct order.

I laughed when he was supposed to be on the edge of my seat, because the plot is so absurd and people acting irrationally. Except when they are expected to behave irrationally. For example: (SPOILER) Two characters have been locked in a cage subterraneous in two feet of water, by a bloodthirsty murderer.

Then discuss what to do next, as we have heard of the Northern line is closed and they need to work how to get to Camden from Leicester Square. It’s lazy writing.

But that’s what you get from the UK Film Council.

Satan

I saw this movie at the ICA, where the average age was 20-something. He was received by the audience with laughter again, you can expect for a horror movie.

And it was pretty funny. OK, I felt a little out of place among my fellow youth, especially during the sex scene in adolescence. The actor who plays the Groundsman clearly enjoyed his part, haming something rotten.

That really takes the movie. I could not help seeing a lot of ideas in the film as derivative, but maybe I’m just being a old fart. So, in general, as happy and fun as a movie can be, given all that blood, pain and sexual tension.

Certainly worth renting.

Bad Taste

I first saw this years ago as a student drunkenness. Seeing again in midlife is so childish and crude as it was.

If you ever saw gore movies and found them funny or laughed involuntarily under great idea budeget special effects then this is for you. There are heroes, no love interest and no nudity. Sometimes, the fun seems contrived and predictable, yet still fun all. I love the way the film parody of the movie making her day and seems to satirize the early 80’s action films.

See if you can identify them. This movie is much smarter than it looks.

Did I just give it 6? Hmmm …

Poltergeist The Legacy - Season 1

March 8, 2010 - 4:19 am No Comments

Poltergeist The Legacy - Season 1 I recently read all three reviews in this series and I have to disagree completely! It’s rubbish! The first five minutes on Disc 1 and I was surprised at how bad it was all!

Actors shit shit and special effects. He gave me a chance, but although he never became more interested. Remember when you used to go to your local video store to rent a VHS or DVD and you wanted was always rented by someone else?

There was always a dubious left that was always there and always wondered if it was good? Well that’s all, and believe me it’s not good!

It’s shit! Not that I’m in RAM that is bad in the throat.

It is only after seeing the 4400 series that I am totally disappointed. Good idea of the special effects, actors and shit shit!

I was less than impressed with this horror, although I reseaon why three stars is because there were some great elements to it. I never seemed to gel in the fantasy film that should have been.

The opening credits were boring … FF through those. The dark tunnels, and scary ones, but it has boring after a while.

He tried to be really horrible scenes of Hack and Slash, but they were gross rather than scary because there is no real motivation behind them. The whole premise that the monster was based was never explored and it is a pity, since it could have been the most interesting part of this film. You are left with a real feeling that something is missing.

It feels like the director wanted to have multiple monsters in the film and that’s where the feeling of missing something that comes into play what could have been a horror, but unfortunately the director made some bad decisions about the story.

The Grudge

After “The Ring”, Hollywood bigwigs decided to try to copy more of the horrors of Japan. Source Nice little income.

What these fools in suits do not understand that some of these horrors in Asia are really good, because they match with Asian cultures. Some stories can not change the culture of (example of a Japanese ‘Coronation Street’, for example - that would not work, would be because Corrie contains a lot of British culture).

This simply does not work for me. The film was made to try to make money out of fashion in Asia, “fear of long-haired woman” that raised its head in the early Noughties.

Last House On The Left

First, I explain that I gave 1 star is for the movie itself, is for this version of the film. Like the 2 girls in it, this film is cut into pieces. I love the ‘Video Nasties’ of 70’s and 80’s and I had not seen this movie before and (foolishly) rented from here.

The problem is that the BBFC got to it first and remove everything that gave her the ‘ugly’ tag he received. It is now left with a dated movie, strange and somewhat useless.

If you really want to see this movie, do I intend to do and pick up an uncut copy elsewhere.

Bram Stoker’s Dracula

I know it’s almost something you have to say when a film comes from a book, but I’m not someone who is always comparing the two, as are various forms of art … films made in the books can be fantastic and can complement and revitalize the same books (Lord of the Rings, Ang Lee, Sense and Sensibility, the BBC adaptation of Narnia to name a few) - this, unfortunately, is not between them.

Stoker book incredibly creepy but subtle Bram Stoker s Dracula Gothic shades and addictive characters has been hacked and “sexed it up” - a lot - If you enjoyed the movie, read the book and learn how it should happen. I was very disappointed by how someone can take a book Dracula film and this is how they should be turned on the big screen - I do not think movies can or should be always faithful to the books, but this is only inferior quality such.
