I Heart Huckabees

February 8, 2010 - 4:06 pm No Comments

T I personally could not stand this movie, its kinda funny, arrogant and totally not my type of movie. I have only 55 minutes and was the boredom of me.

Mind you have a very strong and reliable cast that knows to put in some decent performances. This is just one of those films that you know your really smart and one of his top off. What a load of rubbish, I was not even funny and it is likely that the bee to get some smart nerd jokes, is not for everyone gets that way.

Why cannot they just good honest drama over this shit instead of smart. 2 of 5 Stars

The Holiday

Writer-director Nancy Meyers proved he knew what women want 2000 with the hit of the same name, and satisfied the most underserved female audience with Something s Gotta Give. Now it s throwing the Christmas market for Chick Flick, with a holiday romantic comedy that actually makes love look positively gritty. Beautiful, rich, workaholic Amanda (Cameron Diaz) has just expel cheating boyfriend (Ed Burns) of his palatial mansion and fantasies of a scene change.

Like, for example, a snow-covered cottage, Surrey, where love Iris (Kate Winslet) pines rogue colleague (Rufus Sewell) who might still be dating her if it was t used to another person. A few clicks on a holiday later exchange website, and Iris is rapidly explore their new spacious Cali, while Amanda looks curiously at his bathroom plumbing picturesque. Love comes, as it must, in the form of Iris drunken brother Graham (Law), who hopes his sister s crash pad and instead finds a slutty goddess who thinks that foreplay is overrated.

More in Los Angeles, the film composer Miles (Black) takes off with Iris. Since this is a movie, they place barriers in the way of both novels, not just the ticking of the clock to break the two pairs of separation after two weeks. If all of Long Island-Something s Gotta Give is a slice of pure porn Hamptons, then this is Hollywood and porn porn English countryside: the rustic charm and luxury living in Los Angeles, all wrapped in a great arc, Christmas red.

Meyers takes delight in the consumption of each detailof brilliant high level, the big screen incarnation of the magazine Elle Decoration. A new strain development is unlikely to know inside-joke about the film’s narrative. Iris should be the protagonist of her story, she said, s at one point, but she s stuck playing the best friend.

Amanda hallucinates his own history as a series of corny movie trailers. These flowers won t be giving Charlie Kaufman any sleepless nights, but not the film a fun, smart glow. We could, however, have no preaching Meyers acknowledge the falsity of modern film production and distribution (yes, really), but also from nostalgia for more innocent times Hollywood.

Let s face, The Holiday is a comedy package linked gilt borders and out emotion cleverly marketed relentlessly in its target demographic of women over 25. Who, in other words, are you kidding?

Be an appreciative audience for this great chick flick. But it might be you.

Sky Captain And The World Of Tomorrow

I spent the first part of this movie thinking when history was about to begin, the principle has all the elements of a trailler, then spent the rest of the movie I wondered why he was bothering (partner was also watching what I could not switch off !!!). This film is about being smart (and not). Try to emotion (and not).

Try to look beautiful (Jude Law, G. Paltrow) and fails completely. Best bits - Angelina Jolie - a little more surprising - how could Ms Jolie character have never fallen by Mr. Wood Top (also known as J Law). It is so bad that probably turn as a cult classic.

The Holiday

The Holiday This proved to be an extremely long rom com of the worst kind! The performance was over the top and very evil: with the staple, and now mandatory Cammie Kate having to prance about dancing! (Yawn!

Cammie shaking your booty is so old!). The final was settled rather dubious, I was walking through what I went through what seemed endless watching this saccharine nonsense.

Tell you what I liked: the sweet Cosey, compact stone cottage that Kate lived in ‘Surrey. I walked away thinking …. yeah! I want a house like this, especially if it comes with a bath of the minutes of the film!

Sky Captain And The World Of Tomorrow

Sky Captain And The World Of Tomorrow This film received good reviews on rottentomatoes.com enough. Never in my life have I felt so disgusted and critics who fooled us all, perhaps the second half was fantastic.

I do not know - I could not finish it. Everything in this movie was horrible. Her gaze is assumed that their best asset, was like an old video game FMV sequence.

Blurred vision found a cheap way to hide the green screen, as opposed to any choice of real style. Seemed fair .. so ..

lifeless. The casting?

Hey, here’s a good idea. You have created a cold, lifeless, artificial world that takes you for sharing ..

Jude Law and Gwyneth Paltrow ?!!!! Man, talk about pouring water to a damp squib!

Sure, they blend easily with other robotic characters, but that is the public supposed to refer to? Mr. Ms. Prim or wood? Then there’s the dialogue!

Laughter! The plot - boring, boring, boring! The public could not care one way or another what happens to these cardboard characters running around in their little green screen sets.

How can you spend $ 60 million a movie and forget about hiring a writer? I am angry.

This is the only opinion I’ve written on this site. I felt compelled to warn all other users unaware that this film should be avoided at all costs or you can die of disgust!

It’s worse than Final Fantasy which is saying something. You have been warned.

The Holiday This movie is wonderful’m Very partial to good old romantic comedy and knew ‘the inside’ would not be dragged to see it.

Even I could see the ad that looked particularly twee and cheese so I grabbed my baby and we were classmates just before Christmas. The movie was great!

I love Cameron Diaz and Jude Law Ben Affleck has been removed from my number one since watching him in Closer and now this. He is a perfect gentleman! Kate Winslet describing the feeling of unrequited love and bright that all could relate to her (casting my mind back to when Chris Hobson ripped my valentine at school!) We’ve all been there!

A lovely sentimental film along the lines of Love Actually and Bridget Jones. Girls, go see it!

I Heart Huckabees

I Heart Huckabees I just read some comments from others on this site for this film and I’m not surprised by them, most people will find this film too much of a challenge. It’s hard work but is rewarding and worth the effort. I thought it was great fun and Mark Wahlberg is hilarious in it.

Must be one of the most underrated actors today. Anyway .. rent and make your own mind.

I liked it. It’s fun and it’s certainly not the worst movie ever see.

Just keep an open mind and not expect easy laughs.

Closer

What a disappointment! I missed this in the cinema and was looking forward to receiving the DVD but I wish I had not bothered now. I thought it was unrealistic and played terribly (why people make a fuss about Jude Law?

I totally do not get it). I think Closer is very difficult to enjoy a movie when I have no empathy for any of the characters and can relate to situations. I almost left this movie before the final, but somehow managed to gather enough interest to wait and see what happened, but it was really worth the wait.

The Holiday To give this 2 stars is a bit mean, but to give you 3 would be generous. It is delivered reasonably well in the light entertainment and a sense of wellbeing.

Kate Winslet played her part well enough, but Cameron Diaz was unbelievable - his character was not real to me. I suppose the movie is done in America as it is the representation of England is very romantic in a way that undermines the credibility of the film rather than adding to its charm. Not just managing to keep my attention throughout.

Look, if you have nothing more to do, but do not expect to be captivated.
